Here at Destination Wedding Association (DWA) we understand that education is the key factor in becoming successful in our field.  Because this requires education and dedication we do put a strong emphasis on creating a professional image for the general public.  This is not an organization were you just sign up and automatically a member.  We require the various steps to ensure when a couple sees the DWA seal that they know their wedding is in the hands of a professional who can help them with all sides of their wedding. We ask that every first time member pay a nonrefundable application fee of $50 plus their membership dues.  Our membership status does reflect their education not only within DWA but through other trusted venues, as well as their past experience within the industry.  We feel that both are very important to give the bridal couple the best possible experience.  Since each application is personally reviewed by the Board of Directors each new member is consider Novice until they have completed the documentation, references and/or classes towards the level they are striving for.  Once you pay the application fee and fill out the application you will be sent instructions on how to submit additional documentation. Levels of Certified Destination Wedding Consultants Each consultant is awarded a designation based on their continuing education and experience.  Every consultant is required to attend DWA's formal education program along with contributing their real world experiences.  We believe that there are different degrees to planning a destination wedding.  This designation will help couples find one that matches what they are looking for with ease.    :: more
